Outreach is a core value for St. Andrew’s, bringing the love of Jesus Christ to others through compassionate service. The scope of our outreach has been both local and international, beginning in our own community and region, but extending well beyond it. Everyone is invited to join us as we make a positive impact and change lives.
Tri-parish Partnership in Serving Baltimore
One of our most enduring outreach ministries is with Church of the Guardian Angel in Baltimore, a cooperative effort of a tri-parish partnership along with St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Highland. Church of the Guardian Angel ministers to at-risk and low-income populations in the Remington neighborhood of Baltimore. Guardian Angel serves the neighborhood through many programs, including a thrift shop and food pantry. St. Andrew’s and St. Mark’s have offered support to Guardian Angel in a variety of ways
- Collecting school supplies and backpacks and helping to distribute them.
- Preparing and serving a Thanksgiving dinner for residents of the neighborhood.
- Collecting and distributing toys, books, games, and blankets at Christmas for local children.
- Collecting non-perishable food and donations to support the food pantry.
- Collecting gently used clothing and other items that are donated to the church’s thrift shop
Afghan Refugee Assistance Committee (ARAC)
After the fall of Kabul, faith communities throughout the nation were asked to provide support for refugees from Afghanistan. St. Andrew’s partnered with St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Poplar Springs, to support a family of three (now four). St. Paul’s provided its vacant rectory as a home. Together the parishes fixed and furnished the building, which was ready when the family arrived in February of 2022. The Afghan Refugee Assistance Committee has supported the family both financially and with on-hands assistance and compassionate respect as they move towards independence. We also support two teenagers, who were able to escape Afghanistan, but without their parents. They, too, are finding a home and future in the community, orienting themselves a successful future in a new country.
El Hogar
St. Andrew’s supports El Hogar, a mission of the Diocese of Honduras that provides a primary and secondary education for children living in the most challenging situations of rural and urban poverty in the Tegucigalpa area. St. Andrew’s contributes to El Hogar through direct financial donations and by sponsoring fundraisers such as coffee sales and community dinners.

The Baltimore International Seafarer’s Center
St. Andrew’s knitting group knits hats and other items for those working on ships that stop at the port of Baltimore. The Seafarer’s Center has a robust ministry to the men and women that spend so much time at sea and away from family.
